Robin Rider Online Math Workshop
I am blogging this as Math Professor Robin Rider from East Carolina University gives CCC Math faculty Jennifer Eyl and Marg Gross some great online teaching tips, methods and strategies for teaching math on Blackboard. She is demonstrating a variety of math software programs and giving us some excellent suggestions for teaching this difficult subject in the online environment.
We are going to have to get Jennifer a tablet for her computer so she can write out equations on the fly and have the students see those equations being worked out in real time. Robin also suggests we get Camtasia and a $50 program called TI Interactive. Jennifer is testing out the 30 day free trail version as I type this. Robin also showed us how to use the virtual classroom in blackboard with the whiteboard for having virtual math lessons. All great information and now Jennifer should be ready to move forward creating her Mat 161 Algebra course for Fall 2007.
