Distance Learning Update – 1/31

Filed under: Distance Learning - P. Keough — Don Staub @ 3:14 pm

We had over 20 faculty and staff members attend my first two distance learning workshops this past Friday. The Title III Grant has been and continues to be a great resource (with both funds for equipment and professional development opportunities) in moving our campus wide distance learning upgrade (retooling) initiatives forward in a very positive and dynamic way.

Be watching for upcoming (more focused) distance learning training in the coming months. I plan to offer dl training at least twice a month, throughout the Spring semester. Keep in mind I have some IPods with digital recorders for limited checkout, in addition to digital cameras and a laptop thanks to Title III Grant. Our team of 10 online faculty members (pioneers) are doing some very exciting and innovative things with their laptops purchased through the grant. I will be giving a full report on their progress in the near future. If you have any specific professional development needs please let me know and we can schedule some “one on “one” or small group training. If you would like to schedule time to produce an audio Podcast (or Podcasts) for your online class let me know as well.

Exciting things are happening at CCC as far as Distance Learning goes and Title III has us poised to be a leader again in online education.

Also…please feel free to post comments, feedback, ideas, etc. to the bottom of either of these training blogs or this post. I appreciate all the feedback I can get.

Director of Distance Learning

  1. Exciitng things are happening and it is making teaching onine fun again for me after many years of doing it. The work is intense right now, but I know that it will be worth it!The podcasts are alot of fun to make, the editing is a chore, but hey I am getting there!
