Brief DL Update 3/15/2007

Filed under: Distance Learning - P. Keough — Don Staub @ 1:46 pm

Our new (and highly enthusiastic) Instructional Technologist Pre-Ah Hill came on board with Distance Learning this past Tuesday and has hit the ground running. Pre-Ah has mastered editing podcasts with Audacity and is already uploading media content to CCC ITunes. We have established a Distance Learning Advisory Team at the request of Dr. Fran Emory and Pre-Ah has designed a DL Advisory Blog for our minutes, best practices links, professional development presentations and advisory team interaction. I am really excited about having Pre-Ah working with me, we have lots of innovative plans for DL in the coming months. Keep an eye on the blogs for upcoming DL activities and updates.

Pre-Ah and I have been learning some new software for creating Enhanced Podcasts and in just one week have produced two. We are ready to begin assisting other faculty members in the production of podcasts and enhanced podcasts. CCC ITunes U is being tested and used by our team of 10 faculty members in their online classes and next week we will be linking it to the CCC Web Site. Pre-Ah is meeting Terence Smith to do this next Monday.

I will be attending a 3 day Blackboard Workshop for Enterprise 7.1 at Wake Community College with John Green next week and plan on moving forward with weekly Blackboard (and ITunes) professional development for the rest of the semester and into the summer.
